Intake Baseplate ?

Is it better to port the intake manifold or get an aftermarket base? Is it possible to make it flow better than aftermarket?

as far as I know, a heavily ported stock intake still won't flow what an unported aftermarket intake will. There isn't enough metal to hog it out that big.
