I am thinking about putting a 305 tpi out of one of my parts cars into my 81 monte carlo. It is an 88 setup. I would prefer SD. I have a 2 bar map. If i get a SD computer and prom how hard is it to modify the wiring harness to work? I have the whole car so EVERYTHING i should need will be there, hopefully.

Please help me.

The harness from an 88 F-body is easily converted to work for SD. The million dollar question is whether or not you can adapt the 88 F-body harness to work on the Monte.

If you already have the 88 F-body harness mounted in the Monte, then it's a piece of cake. That is what you need to do first. I think there is a an person on the board that has installed a SD L98 into his 86 Monte Carlo. But how much modification he had to make to the wiring harness to work on his car, I cannot say.

making it work in the monte will be no big deal. LOTS of my friends/customers have done tpi swaps. But while the harness is all hacked up i would LOVE to make it speedensity so i can just have a cone K&N on the TB. im putting the 305 in cause i have the iroc sitting around and it has been around for months and nobody seems to want 305's. I got real sick of like 8 MPG with the amount of driving i do gas bill ads up fast. So now i am going for a nice cruiser. It is NOT getting a 350,a stall or heads or cam or ANYTHING else unstock for that matter. I am not going to even THINK about making it fast. I learnt my lesson with my truck, one thing leads to another, you cant make a 305 fast so I will just have to live with it I am in surrey. Sometimes i live in penticton. Ive been up to Kamloops a few times and have a friend that lives up there. How is the weather up there? It is starting to get very cool down here in the evenings and not nearly warm enough in the day.
