how often should the tps be changed?

i have a 86 iroc, 305tpi and I am getting a code 22 on it. I have already set the the voltage but i still get the code. what is it supposed to be set at just incase i set it wrong (i think we set it at .47 or .54...i don't remember for sure. Also, could this have anything to do with code 43? I changed my knock sensor and my 02 sensor today and the code 43 and 44 I had went away. The car was driving around a lot better than it had and it felt like it was almost driving back to what it should be...then when i was at the gas station i decided to check the codes again and this time i got 22 and 43...the car kinda went back to its old tricks where it gets around 200 and the timing changes and the car becomes unable to get out of its own way...anyway the car overall drove better but still seems to have some problems..if you have any suggestions or anything let me know..thanks

Could be anything. Check to make sure when you open the throttle that the TPS voltage increases steadily all the way to around ~4V at WOT.

As for tracking it down if thats not it, start with basics (clean the grounds, make sure battery terminals are good and clean) and then go from there. A new o2 couldnt hurt, and trying a tap test on the MAF (tap it with a screwdriver handle, see if that makes it run right) will let you know if the MAF is making things act funny. Theres another false 22 I have seen but I cant remember what trips it. If I remember, I'll post it.

Hey roadwarrior, maybe you're thinking high idle. For some reason that pops out of my head, like the engine thinks it's cruising, so it expects TPS. Or something.
