Injector leak down, bad fuel pump... hmmmmm

TPI cars often have starting problems. Sometimes due to leaky fuel injectors, sometimes because of bad fuel pumps and sometimes because of heat soaked starters.

I have two questions in regards to the above statement.

1- I already ordered new Accell 24# injectors so that is not an issue. My starting problem may or may not be the injectors, but I have a new set anyway in the interest of doing it right the first time (isn't that right Ed. ) The shop that is installing my engine and tranny said that they will look at my fuel pump and let me know if it is any good or not. If it is not, what is a good TPI fuel pump to order. I believe replacement time is upgrade time but I do not want to spend boatloads. What is a decent fuel pump tjhat will flow with the ZZ4, Superram Base, SLP runners and 24# injectors???

2- In addition, my starter is going to be checked and possibly replaced just for good measure. I hear the LT1 used starter is a decent one. What about the mini torque starter that people talk about? What do either of these run for and which is better for my 10:1 motor?

For the pump, with your engine the stock pump should be just fine, but if you are intent on getting an aftermarket one I check Summit. They have a Granitelli pump for well under $200, then there is the Walbro pump for right around the $200 mark.

If you are going to replace your starter and are going to be running headers, get the mini starter. It will be less prone to heat soak and leave you lots of room to remove and install it if you need to in the future.
