sorta depends on what heads you have on your motor because poor flowing heads and a big cam= disaster. Also will this vehicle have to pass emissions?

well, The heads on it now are stock (1.94?) the best I can tell, the casting# does not say it just says they are 400 heads. and no emissions here. and It should be 9.5:1 if I remember right

The LT4 hot cam will work good since you probably don't have the capapbility of the using the higher RPM band due to the heads you have on your car. I would seriously swap the heads out when you're doing the cam. At that point, I would go with a CC306.

I want to through some more in here and see what you guys think. I have some solid roller lifters that I was thinking of using but, I am a little concerned about using because from what I understand I will need a special #1 cam(no big deal yet) #2 non self alighning rockers #3 hardened push rods #4 screw in studs #5 stud gurdles + tall valve covers to clear all of that #6 some sort of cam retainer. I really think that a hyd. flat tappet cam would be better. right now my 350 is deep in to 13's so the 400 should get me low 13's or high 12's right?
Trending Topics
Bringing back an old topic here, Im interested to here peoples suggestions for cam with a 400 TPI engine! I am thinking of upgrading mine but NEED to maintain a good idle. I was considering a Summit racing 224-234 dur @ .050 with .463-.488 lift. Anyone have experience with this cam or similar in a 383 or 400 with a modified LTR TPI set up?

I may be able to help you out
I like the cam in my sig...I have no problem keeping a flat tappet cam in my 406 and it lopes along pretty well (at least it did with stock heads)...
The way I looked at it...I wanted a cam that would match my stock-type rebuilt shortblock...cast pistons, stock prepped rods and cast crank...with a powerband to about 5800 with a 6000 (max) redline...
The cam I picked out was a pretty great find being that it has the proper LSA for the EFI setup.
I like the power of this cam...and I bought it when I was running a stock longblock with the TPI setup...not too bad...I could have used some more tuning, but I was happy...
