Great MSD 6AL Location!

I debated on where to put my MSD 6AL box for awhile. I did not like the usual locations because the box looks like it's been shoved into a corner and hanging. Heat also a consideration and definetly appearance. I did not want to remove the washer tank or anything else. I wanted a location where it looked like it belonged so here it is. I fabricated this small bracket and attached it with wing nuts above the battery to make removal easy in the event that I needed to get to the battery. The box is mounted to the bracket, bracket removes in a minute and can be temporarly seated on the coolant resevoir for accesss to the area.
Whatcha think?

Iwas thinkin' the same thing

Right on brotha'. I put mine in the exact same place. I thought, why bother with trying to shove it in a place where no one can see it or have to remove something. Just right smack dab on the battery.

Cool dude! Yours is sitting on the battery?
Mine sits about 2 1/2 to 3" above the battery. Any corrosion or acid getting into it sitting on the battery?

Here's a couple of extra close-ups of the bracket.

I must say that I immediatley noticed a much quicker throttle response. I mean much quicker...I also noticed the idel is incredibly smooth. When I punched it I did notice it pulled better at the higher rpm's. I'm not sure about the gas milage cause I haven't had for a full tank yet, but I believe I may be getting better gas milage. Needle seems to be moving much slower.

that's too close to a corrosive environment to me.

...I didn't have to extend any wires using the MSD adaptor harness

In all honesty, that is a really good idea, you should make a tech article on how to fabricate the bracket & what youll need etc.

Seeing as how I have my A/C removed, when I get my MSD 6AL it will be on the firewall right were the A/C used to be.

I used to have mine near the battery too but after a while it started to get corroded. I had to scrape the rust off and sand it and then paint it. Now it is where all the other electronics are. I also put the tach adapter on the firewall.

Ozzy.
How close to the battery was yours? Mine is at least a couple of inches above. Doesn't touch the battery at all.

Why is it that some people need to use a tach adapter? I didn't use one, and I also didn't use the MSD harness adapter. I wired my MSD myself and hooked the tach wire up to the white trigger wire for the MSD. It works fine as does the tach.

I guess you guys just might have too much $$ to throw around

It was just next to the battery, towards the rear by the steering box. I guess I should have known better.

I hooked mine the same way. Some other people said they didn't have a problem either but mine was acting up bad. After I put the adapter it worked like it's supposed to. Also, I don't really have a lot of $$ to throw around is just that sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do to make it work.

Later,

I made 2 brackets & hung it off the upper tie bar on the drivers side, over the vapor canister, you want to get it as far away from the ECM as possible, to avoid interference.
