SLP T-Ram Questions...
As my luck would have it I have and chance to buy a brand new complete SLP T-Ram setup and most likely will.
I'd like to put it on my 1992 GTA but I have a couple of questions. Is it REALLY just a bolt-on install or will I have to do other mods? I know it should work GREAT with the other SLP parts on my car right now but with all the extra air flow will my factory injectors and psi setting be OK? I really do not want to mess with anything else, I want to be able to just bolt it on and go. I know I would get much better performance if I changed those things but I just don't want to go there yet with the car.

As far as I know, you shouldn't have to change anything. It was supposed to be a direct replacement. So all the injectors won't need to be changed or anything. The only thing I can think that you might want/need to change would be the FPR. I''m not positive on this cause I'm only going from memory.
Hope that helps.

I would also think you would need more mods to get the full benefit on your car.
Your car is a 305 so the stock TPI doesn't quite starve it for air as much as on a 350.
Cam and heads would probably help out quite a bit.

There was a guy named Mike who used to browse the boards a while back. He succesfully installed the T-ram onto his 92 Z.
He has a web site somewhere, you might want to email him.. Mike@Mylec.com
By the way.... if you dont want it... let me know where and for how much! :-D

I belive it was a real "bolt on" but, I think it was suppoused to have a slp chip with it? there was an artical about a year or two ago that had a 89-90 formula 350 with one on it they bought it from slp when they still had them. of course it was long before they got the car in the artical. I just remember it well because the t-ram is no longer made and slp does not plan on making more (no molds any longer) and it was hidden as a readers ride? or some thing in the back of one of my mags. buy it! it is kinda rare find now. it is not the best intake out there but, it looks cool

Post for Kahuna 'Bo. He'll probably reply shortly. He has/had a dealer optioned T-Ram car.
According to my copy of the winter 92 catalog, it is considered good for 88-92 vehicles, but can fit older head bolt patterns by elongating the middle manifold bolts.
Cams like their 51006 (218/224 @.050) or bigger would be quite nice with the T-Ram.
Just make sure you make a template (copy) of the chamber cap gaskets prior to installing since these parts are no longer made and you'll need to be able to make your own in the future.

Thanks for the heads up on the gaskets. I already posted on SLP too and did I didn't get a response from there either
I don't want to change my cam or heads until I have to do a rebuild but installing the T-Ram won't hurt my engines output right?

I belive Kevin was trying to say that you'll have to elongate the middle bolt holes for the manifold so it will fit on your 92 heads.
The manifold was made for the older bolt pattern. (They used it with modified corvette heads with older pattern) A chip would definatly be needed since you have a S/D system and the airflow increase will dictate a change. Did you get the water neck and the belt protector? These are for the dual air box that was on the Firehawk. You should be able to get by until you change the chip but this is a big change for a 305.
Cobra, they sold them thru Summit Racing since they originally were meant for the 250 Firehawks (20 something where actually produced). This left quite a few left over. (No body semms to be sure)

Wouldn't the SLP chip I have right now designed for the SLP package be enough atleast until I can burn a custom one?
I didn't plan on getting the dual air intake either because I don't want to relocate the battery. Can't I just use the single SLP cold air intake?
To me it looked like Kevin said that it would work perfectly on my car but if I were to use it on a pre-88 car I would THEN have to modify the bolt holes...

WTF are you calling B.S. for? Do you know me? Do you know my car? Do you ever go to my site and read posts? If you did you would know that I'm not the original owner of my car and therefor the previous owners could have done other mods that I do not know about, they said they did not but how else could you explain the track times. I ran what I ran, it's that simple. When it comes time for me to rebuild my engine I'm going to spec EVERYTHING to see exactly what has been modded. Since I don't know, then I don't post mods that I don't know to be true. Hell, for all I know the motor has been swapped for a 350, I've owned the car over 2 years and I've checked for matching numbers so you never know.

I said that because you ingnored my question twice. AND I've been to your site and noticed where you incorrectly posted your horsepower and torque figures as the ones from the 350 TA SLP car in the article.
I was initially just curious because I have a 305 also and sometimes I like to compare notes. Most auto 305 cars are in the low 15's and even with SLP mods they would only see mid 14's or so. That trap speed indicates a lot more hp than you should have.
I figured someone with as much attention to detail as yourself, would know whether he had a 305 or 350 and would want to know what mods were done when he purchased the car. You seem to know everything else.
Other than that, your site is pretty cool.

Thanks. I used the SLP car HP rating because I have not yet had my car on a chassis dyno but I know I have more power that what I should have so I went with those thinking are pretty close. My trap spd does indicate that I have even more hp than that though, I had almost a 2 sec 60-ft time too.
You'd think I would have checked the engine casting numbers by now but I have not, I think I don't want to know
Like I said though, when I rebuild in the future I'll spec everthing out and then I will know for sure. Like I said though too, the previous owners said they did nothing but someone must have....

Kevin had it switched around. I was indeed placed on the '92 cars but the motor was removed and replaced. The heads used on the Firehawk were Corvette heads with the older pattern. Check 'em out yourself. The bolt holes all have the same angle. This is the reason I went with the Edelbrock Corvette heads vs the standard center bolts.
I didn't relize that SLP made a chip released with the package. If so that's great. Might be slightly rich since it's for a 350 but that's better then being lean.
Yes you can use it with out the cold air just letting you know for information since the T-ram reroutes the outlet hose under the serpentine belt as opposed to over it.

Yes they did make a chip for the package. Allot of people don't realize this but SLP also made chips just for the package to work a 305 w/auto! That's what my GTA is and that's what I have.
Well damn, it sounds like I should swap heads then because I don't want to do ANY mods to the factory heads. I guess I'll just buy the T-Ram and keep it brand new

I just wanted to let people know that I was still out there. I haven't posted in a while. Anything that has to do with the T-Ram, I can answer. Most everyone in this topic is correct and I have spoke with him through regular email.
If anyone finds a T-Ram or parts - I NEED ANOTHER ONE!
