TPI Fuel rail o-ring question
TPI Fuel rail o-ring question
Hello all, new here to the thirdgen board, and judging by my handle, I'm clearly a Mustang guy... but don't hold it
against me!
Anayway, I am here looking for help for my buddy. He's in the process of completing his 91 Z28. He has a 350 TPI
motor, buncha mods, etc. His problem is that when he was removing the fuel rail, he ripped one of the o-rings "in the
part that connects the left rail with the right one." (His words, not mine, I know little about the TPI motors.) The
question is, does he need to go to a dealer to get this part, and if he does, anyone happen to know the part#? (his
idea) Or, can he just roll down to the local part store and match the o-ring up with one of theirs? (my idea)
Thanks in advance...
Matt

I went to the gm dealer and got a kit with every o-ring in it you can possibly want for the fuel rail. If you go to napa..or any other parts store..they may tell you to go to the dealer..(thats what they told me to do) but you do need to make it clear this is for a fuel line..and not just a normal rubber o-ring can be used..it needs to be neoprine *spelling??* i dont have the part number for the kit at a dealer..but if you go to the parts counter..they will be able to determine what you need..just explain the situation..

i know for a fact that you can get the o-rings at napa.because i work for napa.we can get a lot of stuff most people dont think we can get.because most times you have to get in a catalog to find it.and 80% of the time the person waiting on you is too lazy to do that.
hey...i wasn't saying that napa didn't have them...all i'm saying is what happend to me when i went to a few different parts stores...napa being one of them..
and honestly...i couldn't tell u if the guy actually looked in the book or not for it..but if he was too lazy to look it up for me a customer..than hot damn i'm glad i ended up going to the dealer...thats all i have to say about that..bad customer service.
that being said..i'm not trying to start some sort of flame war..jsut trying to help the guy out that asked about the o-rings..same as u were...

The dealer can definitely get you the o-rings. I've done it a couple times, and it takes all of seconds to look 'em up. If you're not sure what it's called, they have exploded diagrams showing all of 'em.
I'm sure other parts stores can get 'em too, but like the other guy said, most places don't carry that much stock, esp. for old cars. And most employees are frankly incompetent when it comes to finding anything even if they could order it. Worth looking into i guess, but expect failure, lol.
