Tpi Flooding?

I have a 89 IROC with 5.7 TPI. Whenever I let it idle for awhile, the motor seems like it floods itself out. It usually idles at about 9K RPM but when this happens, it goes to about 4.5K. It eventually dies. This only happens for about the first 5 minutes after I start it and only happens when I dont give it gas. Any Suggestions? I am totally clueless!

9000rpm idle? Please clarify. You mean it idles at 900 and then drops to 450 and dies because the motor is flooded? How do you know it's getting flooded? Will it start up after this? Have you done any work or had it checked out? Anything else you can tells us that may help?

flooding of gas would be caused be maybe a leaking injector.

but like he said more info would be better.. like is the engine all stock/original?
maybe even try using the search button and see if you can find your problem on their..
