How does the IAC work on an 87, and how does it work on an 89?
I am wondering how the IAC work on an 87 TB?
I mean how does it measure idle etc.
And how does the IAC work on an 89 TB?
Do the IAC's have to do with the plenum? Does the 87 have anything to do witht he small tube on the drivers side runners by the 9th injecotr??
I am asking this becuase I think it could be the problem in my 87 TPI using 89 runners.
any help would be appreciated

IAC has absolutely nothing to do with the runners, just the plenum and throttle body. I've been lead to believe that 89 up runners will work fine with an older style manifold/plenum. If the car won't run correctly with the new runners, I'd plug every hole that doesn't match up and try again. I know for a fact that accel 89+ runners work fine on the older style intake.

To tell you the truth I thought the extra small tube had something to do with egr, but I haven't ever really examined my intake to see. I believe the runners from SLP do have the extra tube, but it's closed up. At least that is what the picture leads me to believe at summit.
