TBI to TPI

I am looking at a Tpi unit for my 91 Tbi RS. How difficult would this be? Would I have to do any major work?
-Thanks

It all depends on your knowledge. Also, when your talking about doing something like that, it's recommended to buy all new sensors. After all, would you want to put used ones on there assuming they are good. If something goes wrong, it'll leave a list of problems that could be. Also, you'll be looking into dropping the tank to runner a high pressure intake fuel pump since the TBI didn't require one. You'll probably need some skills in wiring as well.

Also, check the search here... there was another guy who recently asked the same question and Bort62 made an excellent response.

Look for that post.

Well, excellent or not is in the eye of the beholder, But here is the thread.

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=137496

OKay, Here is a list of justa Few things

Intake High pressure Fuel pump - Go with a Walbro

Appropriate sender from a EFI Fbody ( V6 will work )

EFI Fbody fuel lines or Custom ( V6 will work )

7730 Speed Density Computer ( can be had off ebay, Or from any 90-92 MPFI/TPI Thirdgen )

All sensors, new from GM or where you want, Including MAP, CTS, IAT, KS, TPS, IAC, O2, Others im forgetting right now...

Injectors, I think used Lt1 24# Injectors Sent to www.cruzinperformance.com are great for a mild - Warm setup.

Throttle body - Stock 48mm Is good to mid 12's at least. Ebay.

HSR plenum base and Fuel rails

Wiring harness, Can be found on Ebay Or from Painless, Also www.chevythunder.com But that guy is JAckass and a Ripoff.

The painless Harness Will cost you about as much as the Factory harness will from EBAY, but the Painless harness has no provision for smog equipment, I don't know if thats a factor for you.

Also Rumors of the painless harness not being long enough, I don't know about that one.

Chip Burning Components from www.jdr.com ( AT29c256) And www.xtronics.com (Pocket Programmer )

Software either free from winbin, or www.tunercat.com for the 80$ Pay version.

Either modify Your own Memcal (easy enough) Or Buy Craig moates adapter ( even easier, but $$ )

TPI Divorced Coil Distributor, Or aftermarket. Ebay Most likely For that.

Divorced coil coil, haha. MSD Blaster is Cheaper than Stock.

Custom Soft fuel lines from Factory Hardlines to HSR...

Thats all that comes to mind right now, Im positive I have forgotten something tho.

And yeah, HSR has the early model Bolt pattern so it will work fine on your heads.

Im doing the Same swap, But using stock LTR instead of HSR ( wonderful state of California )

I have about 1k Invested, and Have everything except the Fuel hardlines.

Ive gotten some exceedingly good deals, Tho. So you may expect to Pay more.
