Need Help Picking Out Roller Rockers
Hey all..I have a bone stock 1985 305 LB9 TPI in m ycar, and I'm looking to add roller rockers to the stock valvetrain.
I have the following two down as possible choices:
Comp Cams Magnum Rocker Arms
Proform Aluminum Rocker Arms, #778-66908
Both have the roller tip and I think both are full roller rockers.
The proforms are cheaper than the Crane but is there any real difference between the two?
Thanks all for your help

the only difference that really matters is that the Proform RR's WILL break.i've seen it
Your money would be wiser spent somewhere else. Putting 1.5 roller rockers on the stock cam will not be a good return on the investment. - not that you asked.
However,, if you're going to do it go with true roller rocker, not just a roller tip and I wouldn't get the Proforms either. "91" is right they're pretty weak, even though there's a chance they wouldn't give you any problems with a stock cam and old stock valvesprings - key work being chance. I like the Crane Blazer roller rockers for the money - which is about the same price as the Proforms. I've used them on a few high lift / high spring pressure solid roller builds and so far so good.

thanks for the replies
thanks guys for your replies..however, I would like to see some more replies from others, and maybe even people who have the exact rockers I want.
I won't be putting in 1.5 ratio; I'll be using 1.6

I've heard some good things about Harland Sharp roller rockers.I've never used them personally but plan on it in the near future.
I disagree.
I think that a Full Roller Steel Rocker Is Not a bad investment For a stock Lb9.
The stock Stamped Steel Rockers Are Flimsy at best, and unprecise in their ratio.
Adding a Quality Aftermarket Rocker will Solve those problems, and the added benifit of the Reduced friction can't hurt.
Additionally, It is a Easy bolt on mod and can be transferred in The Future to a Real Engine, when you get one.
Don't expect Huge horsepower gains, But from my own personal experiance I added Comp 1.5:1 Roller Tip Stamped Steel Rocker arms to My Lg4, and the engine Ran Much much Smoother. Revved smoother and it was noticeable at idle as well.
I didn't pay anything for the Rockers, So it was a No brainer for me, But I think that it would be a decent return for the investment For most people.
As to wich Brand, I don't have any personal experiance. Hardland Sharp gets alot of good comments. I personally have alot of faith in Comp as a company, so On a blind selection I would go with them.

thanks again for all the replies, and please do keep them coming
i have one other question: will i have any troubles fitting the new rollers under stock valvecovers from the '85 TPI with the bolts going around the cover? i have chrome spectre ones which are just a hair taller, but i compare the rocker height to the stock covers cuz if they fit under that, they will fit under my chrome spectre ones.
thanks again
