What kind of damage from AFPR set at 55psi?
I finally got the new 350 in the car. I'm running LT4 hot cam and AFR 190s wheavily ported SLP runners and intake manifold. 52mm TB and 24lbs injectors. Had a chip burned and the car ran great for about 100 miles. Today the car started misfiring and stalling out. I decided to check the FP and guess what I found?
W/the vacuum line disconected and pluged it was showing 55psi.
I pulled one of the plugs and it was black alright! There was an earlier incident at my mechanic's where the car was running rough and one of the cats got red hot. He cleared it up somehow.
When the car was hooked up to the scanner it was blinking rich/lean so that was about right. I imagine I was running very rich for the past 100 miles.
I put the pressure to 50psi and it idles considerably better but not like it did 100miles ago. I think I'll have to change the plugs now.
I read some archives and some people write that the fuel pump and/or injectors can be damaged by runnig too high a fuel pressure. Could I have done any of that kind of damage in the 100 miles I drove the car?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Mike

i would think it could strain your fuel pump if it is stock.....trust me it is a reel pain in the _ alls to remove the fuel tank without a lift...
