Edelbrock baseplate and runners?

What kind of power would I get from an Edelbrock baseplate w/ large tube runners and a ported plenum? If I decide to buy that, what cam should I use? Heads? The reason I ask is because I might be able to get the baseplate/runners/ported plenum setup for rediculously cheap from a friend and I'm tight on money, so I want to be able to work with that. Thanks.

If you get the Edelbrock intake manifold with runners and port the plenum you will see a significant gain, especially in the upper R's. It will pull until a little over 5k rather than a little under. The TPI is pretty restrictive and getting these pieces will wake that motor up.

Thanks alot! I don't have the money for a Miniram setup, so would this be a good alternative?

If youre on a budget maybe some world torquer heads?

Even cheaper - worked stock heads (port/polish/valve job) the L98 cast iron heads can be (and have been) worked to be quite a decent pair of flowers. do a search.

A stealth ram costs less than an edelbrock base and runners.

He said he was getting a deal from his buddy,so it would probably be cheaper than the stealth ram.

Isn't the stealth ram kinda tall, as in i would need a new hood? I don't have the money for that. A mini-ram is once peice, correct? Like plenum, runners, and baseplate all in one? I'm not sure what it is. Would I be better off with a miniram or edelbrock baseplate and runners with a ported plenum? Thanks.

I think a lack of stupid comments from the peanut gallery would help even more.

I have no idea what "ridiculously cheap" equals in american dollars. Maybe you've got the exchange rate somewhere.

All I did was offer a suggestion for him to consider. If he's getting this crap cheaper than that, then by all means, buy it! If not, it's at least worth investigating the stealth ram as an option.

Why is it always the people with a low post count that give me a hard time?

The stealth ram will fit under a camaro hood with no problems. I *think* a couple firebird guys here have installed it with no problems as well. As far as I know, at the most, you may need to clearance the under-hood framework a little.

I don't know how cheap you're getting the edelbrock stuff for, but depending on your budget, the stealth ram is at least worth consideration. For under $500 you get everything you need except for a couple odds and ends. The edelbrock stuff will be a direct bolt-in, and as long as you don't have to buy bolts for it, you won't have any additional costs except for gaskets.

The miniram is 1 piece, but it's ridiculously expensive. It's around $1200 for everything you need. The stealth ram is a 2-piece intake, but the $500 includes both pieces, the fuel rails and the fuel pressure regulator. You're more or less just responsible for intake manifold gaskets and fuel line modifications.

The miniram seems to be best suited to a highly modified car, and with only minor mods, it's likely to be overkill. The stealth ram has a little bit longer runner length, so it should still offer decent performance on a mildy modded motor. The edlebrock base and runners will give minimal gains, but will work just fine on a mild or stock motor.

That wasn't aimed toward you. RedZ28 was the person I was replying to.

The part you're looking at in Jegs is a complete system including the computer, harness, injectors and throttlebody. In one of the stickies you should be able to find part numbers for just the manifold and the fuel rails. Punch these two part numbers into Jegs or Summit and you'll find that they come up under $500. Everything from a stock TPI setup will bolt up to the stealth ram except for the fuel lines. You'll have to screw with those, but you can find plenty of info here on how to do that.
