Just bought an 87 Iroc. Has the 350 TPI. I am having problems with the idle. When you start it the idle will jump back and forth between about 600 and 800 RPM. Then when you are setting at a light. It will die "sometimes" Any suggestions.

 

This is a tough one. Lots of cars on this board are plauged with similar idle problems, including mine. Nobody is going to be able to magically solve this one for you over the internet, it's just too complicated. Best bet, do some extensive searching on this board. Because there are so many cases of this around, there are some really detailed posts on different things to look into and how to diagnose them. You should run into some posts about cleaning your IAC, this is easy and could be the problem, therefore I recomend doing it first. You should also make sure you have a full, up to date tuneup.
