Car doesn't start sometimes

Ok yesterday i went to got start my car i turn the key and nothing happens i thought maybe the battery died but every thing else worked in the car lights radio. So i went inside for about 20 min then tried starting it again and it started right away. Why would that happen ? 2 of my friends with 91 rs's have had the same problem and they don't know what it is either

I had that exact same problem w/ my 82 z28 acouple days ago. Had to keep getting jumps. Finally I got a jump and nothing happened. Got pissed for about an hour, because i didn't feel like buying a new starter. Finally crawked under the car, and tightened the wires on the back of the starter (after disconnecting the battery of course) and bam, car started right up and hasn't given me an once of trouble yet.
Hope your problem is this simple

Check the VATS out. More than likely the connectors where the resistor is getting worn out on the key.
