Did search...need code 45 help!
I just did a search and it helped a bit, but it didn't give me any clear idea of what could be going on here...where I should start looking. Let me start by explaining what is going on.
I was driving home from work (35mph) and SES comes on. I don't notice the car driving strange or anything like that, but when I am stopped at a light, the idle is a bit erratic. It is not bad, but it is fluctuating between about 500-750 rpm or so. When I checked it when I got home, it showed a code 45.
I replaced the O2 sensor a year ago with the headers, though I'm not ruling that out. When I checked fuel pressure a few months ago, it was okay (don't have afpr). What would be the first thing to take a look at...fuel pressure?...TPS (I just checked two months ago and reset it)?
Any help would be great. Thanks
Matt

According to Haynes:
Code 45.....................Rich exhaust
Check the evaporative charcoal canister and it's components for the presence of fuel. Check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum control hose for the presence of fuel. Replace the oxygen sensor.
If you already have a manual then sorry. Wasn't sure if you knew what that code was or not.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have a manual, so I knew what the code meant. That helps though. I'm not too familiar with the charcoal canistor system...I know what it is, just a little unsure of how to correct a sistuation like you talk about with fuel in there. What would cause fuel to get in there? Thanks again for the ideas.

Well, the car is running normally today. I went to school and back without any problems. It idled fine, there was no surging...not that there was before, or anything else out of the ordinary. I'm confused!

Yeah, strange huh? I didn't do anything to it. It has ran fine all day long and it has been driven alot today.
Now, I did notice something when I got home this evening. I looked to the passenger side and down by where the ECM is, there was a plug with three wires on it hanging down. It is dark, so I couldn't really see what it was, but it I noticed that the plug was labeled A...B...C for the three prongs. The wires were Black, White or Gray and Blue or Green. I couldn't really see the colors very well. I am thinking it is connected to the TPS, but I don't know where it plugs into. I am going to try and find it in my shop manual, but I don't know if that thing would have any effect on this or not. Thanks for the help so far.
