code 32 EGR

Hello........

I got a code 32 that should be the ERG or solinoid. I happened a few times only durring freeway speeds. I got a new one anyways since it never been changed. The weird thing on my car is that I allways had a rough idle and the weird thing is when the SES light came on the idle smoothen out. Why is that?

Since the TB and the runners are going to come out do the adjustable fuel pressure regulator got all the gaskets I need?

Thanks

Look in the repair section. I had this problem with both my old and new EGR. They go through ways to check. I rebuilt my motor and changed everything and still had the problem. It hasnt happend recently and when it does it doesnt effect how the car runs.

When I got my black IROC the light would come on after about 4 or 5 minutes of steady 65/70 mph travel on the interstate after the engine warmed to operating temps. The light would go off only when I shut the engine off and not come back on till I ran at those speeds for a few minutes. My car had no muffler, just the cat. and a pipe system that looked like standard dual exhaust exiting the rear of the car. Several people told me the problem was low back pressure. The car ran great all the time. Once I got a cat-back (Edelbrock) exhaust system put on the car, no more code 32's, so the back pressure idea must have been right. I think the light can come on for at least two reasons. One is if it doesn't open enough to get to the "normal" operating range the computer is programmed to see it at (my problem - but the car still runs good). The second reason would be if the EGR valve was open more than the computer thinks it should be. At low engine speeds (idle and just above it) it will miss and stumble because it is getting way too much burnt gas/air from the exhaust due to the EGR being open when it shouldn't be, or open more than it should be.

I have a flowmaster and with both cats out for a while now just reciently it started to do that with the SES light comming on. Yes its only on freeway speeds but only if I drive it hard.

How many miles do you have on the '92 Z28?

I had 88,000 on my IROC when my EGR went out, the previous owner had messed around with it, and needless to say it was shot beyond belief... put in a brand new one and it cured everything (SES, rough idle, stalls).

Check the tubes for vaccum leaks first... if that checks out, it's either the solenoid or the valve, or both. Not too expensive to replace.
