What should inside of runners look like after 80,000 mi
Those of you who have taken off your runners after a significant amount of milage, I have a question.
What did the inside of the runners look like.
Mine had a relatively thin coating of what apeared to be cooked on soot/oil mixture. It was not thick nor powdery just a baked on thin layer that castrol super clean and a bottle brush took off with some scrubbing. Is this normal for this much milage? Would it be from the recycling of the egr gases?
Let me know what you think.

What you found was carbon build up, and yes that is normal for that amount of miles. While you have it all apart you should polish everything up inside to allow cleaner flow.
