Below 500 rpm in drive, is this bad?
Ever since i bought the iroc a week ago ive noticed that the car idles really low in gear. It seems like it wants to stall when im stopped but it never does. It idles at a little less then 500 rpm, and around 650 in park. There is not a problem whatsoever with driveability, off the line it seems fine even. Is this normal or should I begin to head to autozone? thanks

well since you just bought the car i suggest you do a tuneup before doing anything else. a tuneup consisting of air/oil filters, oil change, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, resetting IAC and TPS, and PCV valve IIRC. Doing that first will help narrow down the source of the problem. If i left anything out please somebody add to the list
Any luck? If you've cleaned the TB and IAC, and reset minimum air, the idle should be at the ECM target idle speed. If it still indicates low, verify the tachometer display with a hanheld test tachometer, since the factory instruments aren't laboratory quality.

its been really ugly out here the last few days as far as weather is concerned and its going into the shop where they are going to do a complete tune up including the injectors and fuel filter. ill have them clean my iac and set my minimum air. this is a good shop that im taking it to, they charge 200 dollars to install headers on a thirdgen and they are charging me a little under 200 to do the complete tuneup. i would do it myself but im not a fan on changing plugs in the rain plus i cant get a jack underneath the car. ill let you guys know what happens-

Paying other people to work on your car, especially basics like this is pretty much ALWAYS a bad idea. You have no idea what they are going to screw up while 'fixing' it.
I tell you this because you seem to have an interest in troubleshooting and modifying your car. If you want the best results, you have to do this kind of work yourself or you will just get stuck in the slippery slope of letting yourself get robbed by mechanics anytime your car starts doing something that doesn't make sense.
