Stupid question about gaskets....
I'm replacing my intake manifold gasket for the first time. Felpro recommends you put a small amount of RTV on back of gasket and set the manifold on to heads and tighten slightly. It says wait X amount of time then remove to make sure the gasket didn't shift and to cut away excess material covering ports. My dumb question is do you place the gaskets on the manifold or the heads?
I'm ditching the cork end gaskets and bought some ultra black RTV silicone based on what others have told me. Any other tips?

Are you sure that's what the directions said? I've never done it that way. Run some rtv around the water jackets and you should be OK.

I have Fel-Pro 1204 gaskets on my vette right now. I dab a small maybe 1/2 dime size amount at the front and back of the gasket and press it onto the head and hold it in place for 30 seconds. This will typically keep it in place long enough to do the other one and set the manifold on it.
