More TPS Disaster :(

The past few days after shutting my car off, i get back inside and go to start it, to find out the engine is flooded with farkin gas and it will NOT start.. today it took me approx 30 cranks on and off at WOT to burn the gas and start it. I hooked my pc to it, and with the einge off it reads 3.0+ volts. We reset the damn thing and it just jumps back up to 3+(WOT) when we start it...thats at idle!! someone has got to know an answer im ready to drive my car off a cliff, its pissin me off, and even moreso, to the point where i donno wtf to do. Detailed instructions would be so helpful, I know one of you smart peeps may know how to get the job done. P.S. the MAP sensor was replaced 4 months ago, and the TPS a few days ago.. and im getting a constant 3.+ volts to it. I dont know what to do

im not possitive, but your TPS shouldnt have power when the key is off, plus, if your car sits with the key off, the fuel pump is no longer pumping, so it would eventualy run out of gas in the fuel line to spray through the injector, and the injector wouldnt have power, so it couldnt spray any ways..... if it were my car, i would check the fuel pressure regulator vac line to see if it has gas in it, if so, the diaphram is ripped and gas is poorin into your engine after you shut er down.... im sure some one else will have a better answer than me, lots of smart people on this site!

To clear a few things up, I didnt say it was spraying while it was off. If you read it correctly, youd know that while driving down the road or at idel its spraying at constant 3.volts which is flodding the engine, but allowing it to run.. Theres no way it can burn all the fuel so some is spit out and some is left in. And when you shut it off it stops burning for that short time and that gas remains. And when you hook a computer up to your car, you have to have the key on in order to obtain readings, i figured everyone who knew anything about it would know that. Thanks though for your input.

Have you checked the TPS with a voltmeter to make sure it doesn't hang up anywhere. Maybe when you set it, it actually sets, but the first time you start the engine it hangs at 3 volts? I know that when the TPS goes south it spikes and hangs up instead of being linear (sure you knew that).
So you set it, and start the engine. Has the throttle been opened at all yet? say maybe past where the TPS would read 3 volts? I don't guess it would hang there unless it passed there first.
I would try another sensor just to make sure. if it is the same it sounds like a ecm problem.
Don't know if any of this helps, hope it does.
good luck

Detailed instructions....

Verify the voltage is correct. Using a digital ohm meter...

Three wires coming out of the TPS..
The center wire is the return voltage to the PCM. Verify that it is indeed 3.0 volts. If it is between .5 and 1.0 volts then you need to begin by verify'n that the PCM is reading the voltage at 3.0 and it isn't the equipment. if it is reading at 3.0 Then find the Vref wire at the TPS should be 5.0 volts max. If more than 5.0 Volts repair short to power. If ok.. Test the ground side of the TPS to the negative battery cable. It should read zero or no more than maybe .15 max. If you read voltage then repair bad ground to TPS circuit. Now for the other issue....

The past few days after shutting my car off, i get back inside and go to start it, to find out the engine is flooded with farkin gas and it will NOT start..
That is what he was talking about. If you are flooding over after shut down either an injector is stuck on or something is holding it on or fuel pressure is max'd

What would be my guess. The TPS is sticking when he turns on the key and gives power to the pump.

How long does the fuel pump prime when you first turn the key on? Also test the TPS with the key turned forward, the computer might think that it is grounding and causing it to have 3+ volts. Let us know when you check back in.

I wonder if your idle adjustment screw was set incorrectly. If your throttle blades are too far open at idle, that will give you a high TPS voltage reading. Try resetting the minimum air adjustment as stated in the tech article on this board.

Best way to check the TPS is to unhook it and put an analog ohm meter on it. Next, move the throttle from idle to max, slowly, the needle on the meter should sweep smoothly, if it stops or gets jerky, replace the tps.

gflo383 suggested the first thing I would have checked. Only
because it will flood the hell out of your engine when you shut
the key off.

Ease up a bit. Being pissy with someone who is trying to help is
a posting foul and will get you nowhere quick.
