Need idle help
Hey guys,
I just installed a new custom burned prom and my idle is messed up. I had a Hypertech set for an auto when I got the car. I now have a 5-speed and had a prom burned for than and my new motor setup. With the Hypertech the idle was ok, bounced around a little about 200rpm's. Now with the new prom it hunts big time. The place I got the prom from said I need to set the IAC counts with a scanner. Until I can get a scanner I would like to know how to set my idle. The prom is set for 850 rpm's. Do I set the min. air first then reset the IAC by turning on the Ign., push the throttle to the floor, turn off Ign., then reset the TPS? Do I start by setting the idle to 450 without the IAC plugged in? I just want to get it close until I can check the IAC counts. Thanks for any help.

There is an article in the Tech Articles section on setting minimum air, this will get your IAC counts in the ballpark. Follow up with TPS voltage adjustment, also in the Articles area, and you should have things happy.
