carb to tpi questions
I am looking at changing from my current carb setup to fuel
injection, for better fuel economy, driveability, and emmissions.
I currently have a goodwrench 350 pre-86, and need to know
what I need (new cylinder heads, etc..). Is it possible to go with
a TPI system. I was looking at the accel/lingenfelter street ram
kit (looks like stock TPI), and was wondering if any one knows how
complete the kit is. I plan on upgrading the cylinder heads and
cam already so it would be a good time to change over to fuel
injection. Also, I am looking for a set up with good low and midrange
torque (below 5500 rpm) and it seems that a fairly stock type of
TPI setup will deliver good results.

dont have lots of info for u but if u havent already check out tpis.com, they have a few tpi setups including everything...from stock to mini ram..check it out...the wiring harness is gonna need to be replaced and it is big $$$ but sometimes u can have them made for cheap...
It's going to be a big job. I did it on my '71.
Here's some of the things you'll need:
Manifold
Injectors
Sensors
Wiring harness
High pressure fuel pump
Fuel return line
ECM and Prom Chip
Whereas I had to do a ton of modifications to adapt it to a 71, you'll have it a lot easier since these parts were actually designed for your chassis. Still, it's expensive and a lot of work.
If you go through any of these major fuel injection places like Arizona Speed and Marine, or TPIS you're going to pay about three times as much as you need to. My advice would be to call Summit Racing and get either the Fuel Injection Swappers Guide or Jaguars That Run- both of which are good sources for getting the job done as inexpensively and thoroughly as possible.

Im in the process of putting the Finishing touches on My setup.
I converted my 85 Carbed car to TPI.
I peiced together a setup combined of aftermarket and stock parts VIA local and internet sources - New and Used.
It has cost me well over 1k - And I have gotten some pretty good deals ( and been pretty resourcesful )
I would reccomend to anyone doing this to Buy a Complete setup first, preferably a wrecked TPI car.
The little things will Nickle and dime you to deal ( 130$ on Fuel lines) IF you don't.
Look For a Webpage from me within the next month. )
