lt4 intake
lt4 intake
ok, right now i have a stock L98. i was thinking about going with the lt1 intake sometime in the future. one of my friends at school is getting an lt4 kit for his 95 z28. the kit includes intake, heads, hot cam, 1.6rr's, and all the gaskets. my question is, would i be able to put all this into my motor?
ps - i haven't been able to get on lt1intake.com for the past 3 or 4 days. is it down or something?

The lt1 site has been down for a while john...
Any way the heads could work but it would require the same amount of work as to get lt1 heads to work, it has been done but probably isn't worth the time unless they are free or next too free and your good friends with your machinest. Instead I would grab you friends old lt1 intake do the work to convert it and buy the hotcam kit which comes with springs, RR's, and cam. Then buy some better flowing heads and you'd be set. If your really set on that bright red lt4 intake you should be able to run vortec heads which would be much cheaper than lt4 heads and should flow similarly. And a side note... I shouldn't say this because I'm sure theres only so many of them but scoggin dickey has the lt4 intake for $200 brand spankin new, even powder coated red...

of course you would need fuel rails and lines, in addition to the other things to make it work. If you could get the fuel rails and other things cheap you could be in new heads and intake for under a grand... now at $6.40 an hour...

i was going to pm john, but i guess you can't do that. i was gonna email him, but his email is @lt1intake.com, so i thought that since the site was down, he wouldn't get email either...
anyway, i was talking to my friend at school about it, and he said he would sell me his lt1 stuff, and he said he just ordered the entire lt4 kit today. now, this would work out great, because i have a friend with an 87 z28 that's tbi, and he wants to convert to tpi, so i could sell him my tpi stuff (which is in great condition, about 70k miles...).
so anyway, my friend at school tells me he's getting this lt4 kit, and it's on sale for 2 grand for the whole thing. so now i'm thinking, why would i get the lt1 when i could just get all the lt4 stuff brand new, especially since i was thinking about getting the hot cam anyway.
is there even that much of a difference between the lt4 and the lt1? i was looking at a site and it looks like there's a considerable difference between the heads, and the hot cam, but i don't know about the intake. i've been trying to find info on the lt1 intake, but the site is down, so i've been limited to searching this site, which unfortunately is mostly people arguing about whether or not it's better than the super ram.
so anyway, hopefully lt1intake.com will be up soon so i can find some info. if i get the lt1 from my friend, could i send it to john so he could do all the work for me (yea, i'm lazy, sue me)?
sorry for the length...
edit: ha, i actually just got a job at school that's $9 an hour, unfortunately it's only 9 hours a week...
oh, and thanks for the reply, that's a lot of the info i was looking for. and i thought i was just going crazy with lt1intake.com being down...
