Fuel Pump Problem?
Fuel Pump Problem?
I have recently had a starting problem. I put the key in the ignition and turn the key and I can't hear the fuel pump turn on. If I cycle the key a few times, and the fuel pump comes on, and my car starts right up. I figured it was probably a bad fuel pump relay. The problem I had today was. My car started normally, and drove about 50 yards, and it started sputtering, RPM's dropped, and the check engine light came on. I turned the key off, and restarted it, and it has been fine since. It does the same thing if I start it without waiting for the fuel pump to come on. I figured since I had oil pressure, the fuel pump relay wouldn't come into play. What do you think the problem might be? Thanks for your time.

This may be a stretch but do you have a spare key you can try out? Maybe the chip isn't being recognized and the FP is cutting out cuz of VATS. Not sure of the specifics for your year though.
I tried starting my car this morning. It took nearly 15 minutes, and a lot of fast cycling of the ignition switch to get the fuel pump to come on. Once it started it was fine. I even tried two different sets of keys. Is there anything in the steering column that might be worn?
Thanks
Jeff
Thanks
