Help me spend my $800.
I haven't posted in a long time because I was going to sell the GTA but I just can't get rid of this car, I know I would kick myself later on if I did. So, I have about $800 to spend on it, and I can't decide what to buy. My engine is a 383 stroker and the other mods are in my sig. I am leaning towards 1 3/4" LT hooker headers, they are $600 to my door from jet-hot, and taking off my cats, I think this would give me the most power gain since I am running stock exhaust manifolds and stock cats, which I'm sure are really robbing the power potential of my 383. I also want to rig up a new exhaust because I HATE the way mine sounds. If you were me would you get the headers and other mods or get sub-frame connectors do some suspesion mods?
Thanks
Thanks

I am also going to remove my A/C and smog not matter what. I was also thinking about buying a dremel so I could port my plenum but I not sure If I would see any gains from that if I'm going to be using stock runners and intake base.

yeah headers would be the way to go, with your prev mods it would be a great improvement, but do a search there's alot of things with headers you got to do though. They are the one of the best mods to do, but also a pain too. Just make sure you keep all wires away from them and you should be alright.
you should try to get your subframes at the same time. That should help keep your car intacted with that 383

1989 Trans Am GTA 57K Stored winters 383 Stroker true dual exhaust, roller rockers,
upgraded 700R4, K&N filter
Just wondering, how did your car end up w/a 383 and true dual exhaust and not headers? I'm assuming, from your sig, that you have stock heads, cam and TPI set-up.
Did you buy the car this way or did you build it? I'm just wondering why these choises were made, as far as upgrades, and not others.

thanx for the replys guys,
I have the stock exhaust manifolds and the stock pipes going to the cats, it is a dual cat car so instead off having it go into 1 pipe after the cats i have seperate pipes and the mufflers are all the way at the end of the system. The heads are milled and I have roller rockers and a very miled cam, the reason I have some mods and not others is because I ran out of $$$ when I was building the car, the engine blew and I had to get it rebuilt so I just did the bottom end the way I wanted it, that way I would have a solid base to build on as I got more money to do the top end.

Your need for any of these is great... and 800 dollars can't be spread to cover more than one unless you have some serious hookups in the aftermarket. I would do the suspension. You have the rearend to handle it (I hope you meant 9" not 9 bolt) and the unibody will not last forever with the 383 making such impressive torque... to upgrade the intake without the exhaust or vice versa would be sucky... wait until you have sufficient funds to improve both at the same time. Suspension.
Subframes
LCA's
STB's
You can get all three with 800 bucks if you're a careful shopper, and the Unibody will be ever so grateful.

D Stroy H8,
It has the factory stock 9-bolt, the same rear-end that they put in the tta and people have run 11's with the stock rear, i read it somwhere. So you don't think that I wouyld gain anything form getting LT headers and taking off my cats if i still have the stock tpi?
Thanks

Anyhing would be an improvement as mentioned before.I would do the exhaust and something with that stock TPI.That 383 is nowhere near its potential with all those stock restrictions.
