Is it possible to have too much fuel pressure?
Is it possible to have too much fuel pressure?
I just installed a set of Ford 24lb/hr injectors in my LT1 intaked motor. I set the fuel pressure to 50psi to bump the injectors to about 27lb/hr. Has anyone had any problems running at such a high pressure? LS1 cars are running more pressure than that.
Is there any reason I should not be running at 50psi? I don't want to damage anything.

That is the same thing that I did, I am running 24# SVO injectors, with 50.5 psi. I would turn it down if I could, but the AFPR won't!!! I set my chip to run 27.2 injector constant.
Anyway, yes it works, but it does horror on stock fuel pumps. My fuel pump dies out on top end becuase it has been abused. If you already have a hi-flow or something that is made for hi-pressure, then it is fine. If you have the stock fp, you better turn it down or start saving for a hi-flow. It took my pump about 7-8 months, granted it is a daily and I am still driving it with that same pump.
It's almost like you can't kill the pump, but you sure can get it drained!!!

Thanks for the reply. My pump should be good for that fuel pressure. At 6000rpm the motor just pulls hard...no problems with fuel. Well....not until the rev limiter kicks in.

with those injectors it probably won't be an issue.
In some cases, your idle quality can suffer if you have a very small duty cycle with an enormous injector. I doubt that the equivalent of 27lb/hr is enough for that to happen.
The other issue, which also doesn't apply here, is that some injectors can't handle the higher pressure. The stock 19lb injectors can lock up with too much pressure. I have no idea what fuel pressure would cause that to happen with the SVOs, but I'm sure it's way higher than 50lbs.
