why is there so much oil in my TB

I took my TB off to put my HSR on and noticed there was a lot of oil residue inside the TB. I also have a lot of oil all over and around the rubber elbow that is on the valve cover too. the one that has that rubber hose that plugs into the TB. what is that hoses function anyway? Can I ditch that hose and just run a breather? What about ditching the PCV and putting a breather there to. What are the side effects of replacing a PCV with a breather

I asked about putting a breather in the part that attaches to the TB, and someone said that oil will come right out of the breather and go all over.. as for the PCV, yea im 99% sure you can...

You may have a blow-by issue. Check the PCV valve. I had a car with the same symptoms once and it had a cracked piston, letting combustion chamber pressure into the crank case and forcing oil out. At any rate, it sounds like you may have excessive pressure inside the crank case.

And why in the world would you wanna ditch the PCV system? Unless I've been misinformed, the crank case is designed to operate under a vacuum. I'd leave it in.

keep the pcv, the only reason dragsters run breathers is because they have a vaccuum pump, keep it...for the sake of your car...

Another option is to run a catch can inline with the PCV hoses to limit the amount of oil getting into the intake manifold. A few bucks spent at Home Depot will set you right up.

You can either drain the catch cans periodically, or run a return line back into the valve covers, intake oil galley, or top of the oil pan.

Keeping the PCV valve is the way to go. The other side is a breather which lets air containing oily residue inside of it feed into the throttle body from the valve cover. Remove the hose on the passenger side, go to advance auto parts and get the right breather from their MR.Gasket section, install it and plug the throttle body inlet. Then you are all done.
