need some 305 advice
got a 86 305 tpi trans am , its only got 21,000 miles on it, the car is mint , everything original, its got 3.42 gears, airfoil, k@n filters, 8.8mm wires , ect , now i been reading about this peanut cam in 86 , i am thinking of replacing the cam with a comp x treme energy, 212-218 449 459 112lsa, now this cam should work great with the computer, the next ques is the heads should i get the stock 416 heads ported milled ect and put the bigger 1.94 valves in them, i will get this work done by a class a mechanic, i got the price for the cam swap he figures about 500 can plus the 300 can for the cam and lifters, now for the heads getting done is it worth it on my car, will the car start leaking oil after,
the car is mint, all it needs is another 50-75 hp than i will be the happiest man going, please give me some pro advice thanks

You've got some solid plans and attainable goals. You should do it.
Many people on here will tell you to not waste your money on a 305. If your looking to make serious power you can do it with a 305 but it makes more sense and can be cheaper on a 350.
However if that's all you want to do then you can accomplish that on a 305. While your at it though what a TPI car really needs is air. Get your plenum ported while your at it. Maybe later get bigger runners. Let that sucker breathe. Hope this helps.

MOD that 305. The new cam should help a lot. Headers and exhaust are a couple or other mods to think about.
thats what i plan on doing.. heads and cam swap... i thought the 416's have to big of a cc? i thought that they were 64cc's? could be wrong... anyway.. Look at my sig for what im doing this summer with the S/R world heads and ZZ4 cam. good luck man!
