MSD pro billet distributor

I went and picked up my cam, springs, retainers, and locks today and while I was there decided to pick up a distributor. I have to use a magnetic pick up distributor with my F.A.S.T system and decided to go with the pro billet distributor (pn #85551) I got it home then noticed it had an adjustable mechanical advance. Like an idiot I didn't think about that untill I got home. My question is, will it work/or can I make it work? If not, does anyone know a part number for one that will? As usual, thanks guys for any help

I'm not sure if you can lock out the advance on that distributor or not but. . . I used a MSD 8570 distributor with my SD730 factory ECM. It basically has the same magnetic pickup as the small HEI MSD distributor, just a different connector.

In the directions that came with the MSD8570 it shows you how to remove the weights and lock out the advance. That way my ECM can still control the timing but I have a quality distributor and the advantage of being able to use it in future project engines that do not have programmable timing.

FYI, I just mounted the module from the inside of the small HEI distributor on a heat sink and to the firewall behing the distributor. It's been working fine for several months now and I spin it to 7k sometimes without missing a beat.

So, look at the directions and see if it's possible. If not, I know the 8570 can do it.

Hope this helps!
