To AFPR or Not To AFPR

should i get an AFPR. i installed the LT1 cam and on the snap on scanner my BLMS are up a bit meaning the cam leaned me out a bit. im not dangerously lean or anything, actually doin pretty good. but i was wonderin that my WOT AF isnt optimal, would it be a good idea to get an AFPR and **** with the pressure a bit? im running 97.63mph at the track right now. any ideas if id get anything out of it? i figured if i got one and played with it i might pick up .5mph and crack 98.

What mods do you have? If your car is mostly stock it won't help that much. Most stock cars usually run better with a little bit lower fuel pressure than factory.

Would the adaptive feature of the EEC not correct the A/F ratio if you alter it with feul pressure changes? It has been my understanding that the 02 sensor feedback is used to write correction to the feul tables, rendering feul pressure changes pointless after a quick drive. Unless, of course, your FP is out of the range of the adaptive feature to correct for?

At WOT the O2 sensor readings are no longer looked at.
It shouldn't affect his day to day driveabilty for the reasons you mentioned though.

I'm sorry for my ignorance...I'm kinda basing my questions on my Ford EEC. In my case, the load table(90%) used for WOT is updated by the 02 sensor feedback, but not while at WOT. The 02 sensors are ignored at WOT. But, while the car is at 90% load, but not with the gas pinned, the 02 sensor data is used against this table.

geuss I should venture into the electronics forum..

yeah i definitly need fuel! im going to buy all new intake gaskets before i purchase an AFPR just to insure i dont have any vaccum leaks but. tonight at the track i ran a 98.12 mph with my stock MAF unit. my friend traded MAFs with me, his is a descreend stock unit. i ran the car and to my surprise the thing pulled like a raped ape even with a 2.3 60ft i did a 14.2 @ 99.76 then my next run i did a 2.4 60ft with a 14.3 @ 100.2mph run. i was amazed. i guess this means i need fuel? i could definitly smell the exhaust being a lot richer.

my mods are:
LT1 Cam
Ported Plenum
Centerforce Dual Friction
Poly Tranny Mount
Poly Torque Arm Mount
3.27 9 Bolt Rear
Modified Air Box
K&N Filters
Dynomax Headers
Dynomax Cat Back Exhaust
Cat Delete
Throttle Body Coolant Bypass
IAT Sensor Relocated
Emissions Delete
HVAC Delete
12* Base Timing
No Rear Seats, Spare Tire, Jack
Toyo Proxes FZ4s
