Stupid newbie question- distributor

Engine: 91 L98 long block with Pro-jection
Transmission: T5
Axle/Gears: 91 10bolt w/ 3.42s and T2R
Stupid newbie question- distributor
Well, even though *I* don't consider myself a newbie, I hafta ask a question like this---
Where is the #1 tower on a 90 distributor? I have a pic of the large HEI style, but none of the smaller one. I can't seem to find any marking anywhere. Everything I have seems to indicate that it the front post towards the driver's side...
Also, I beleive I heard on the boards somewhere that there are nice marks to line up to get 6deg base timing. Where and what are these marks?
