stumbling car after intake gasket fix
ok, this is not a third gen car, but it's similar to a TPI and i figured maybe somebody's run across this before (motor's a '90 3.3L out of an oldsmobile cutlass cierra SL, aka, beater car)
i had an intake gasket leak so i got the gaskets from gm and took the intake off, took the old gasket off and scraped/cleaned where they go and the area sourrounding it (making sure the bits didn't go where they wern't suppose to) and then put everything back together.. did an oil change and then started her up and it runs like a pos.. stubbles like if it's running on odd cylinders or something..
i did take the injectors out so i could get to some manifold bolts, undid all the wires going to the manifold/injectors and everything.. and i did take off the fuel lines and some vaccume lines, but i made sure everything went back to where they're suppose to go.
and another thing, the cat turns fire red.. so that means that it's running lean.. right? when i rev up the car past 1500 rpm or so, it seems to run very smoothly (almost too smoothly) and it's response is very crisp at 4500 rpm to 5500 rpm..
could injectors just "go" like that at low rpms? computer malfunction? it's not throwing any codes.. I used gasket maker sealant (the "red" kind, for high temps) on the valley sides and i did put quite a bit.. but it'd just get blown out the exhaust right? but then i made sure that i didn't put "THAT MUCH" on the valley sides so that i'd just get squished out anyways..
Thanks, Eric

it's a 3.3L engine out of a oldsmobile cutlass cierra..
the distributor's.... not SBC like, it's more a half breed of LT1 and something else... u can take it off and it won't change a thing..
did find the problem tho... fuel line kinked and so had a pinhole in it, letting air into the engine...
anways, thanks for the response easyspeed
