Vacuum valve near distributor

Wondering exactly what it is and what it does.

Was working on upping the timing a little today and discovered this "valve" or sorts. Its got two vacuum lines coming from it, one that I think used to go to the EGR and one that used to go to thethrottle body. Neither one of these have been hooked up since I owned the car and I've never had problems other than the ocassional check engine light for EGR failure.

The "valve" also had a two pin connector running to it, I'm assuming it acted as a solenoid to allow function of the EGR or something? I removed it and the car seems to run fine, just wondering what the correct term for this part would be and if it's fine to remove it?

I can get pictures when my battery charges.

The car is a 92 350 TPI, speed density.

mike that is for the EGR. it's called the EGR solenoid. the computer uses it to open the EGR x amount per rpm. it rations the vacuum to the EGR.

thats exactly what i was figuring, to a point. knew it had to be a solenoid of some sorta fter looking at it and knowing where it used to hookup.

car runs fine with it out so ill leave it out.

now, is there anyway to make the computer think the EGR is working properly even though its not hooked up? ill do a search for this but figured i'd ask in this thread, just in case.

you would have to burn a prom to turn the EGR code off.
