v6 mpfi to v8 tpi

I have two camaros an 86 z-28 and an 85 camaro sc. The wiring in the z is shot so i was going to put the harness from the sc in it. I though i read somewhere that there was basically no difference in the fuel injected harness. So i was wondering if i could burn a new chip for a v8 and put it in the origanal sc ecm and get all the v8 specific sensors would it work? I also have a 7749 ecm that i could rewire to and put in. I'm very good at wiring so modifying any of the harnesses is no problem. But if it happens to be out of my skill range i'm good friends with the owner of kwick wire that does street rod harnesses so i could have him modify it.

I'm not sure about NO differences. The one obvious difference is that the V6 has two less injectors on it. However, since you're dealing with batch fire systems, you can simply wire two more injector plugs into each injector bank on the harness. The other obvious difference is the EPROM in the ECM and possible the ECM itself.

I would get schematics from your vehicle as well as the donor vehicle and go circuit by circuit along the ECM input/output connectors and make sure that each one is the same.

I have schematics and it seems like the harneses are the same except for the lack of a knock sensor and for 2 less injectors. All the camaros basically had the same ecms or actually i should say that the camaros of the same year generally had the same ecm all i think that would have to be changed is the eprom and add the knock sensor. Thanks for the reply.

If you have the 730 ECM you can use it. You need to have a knock sensor, and what was stated above about the injectors. good luck.
