Car: 1982 Trans Am & 1982 Corvette
Engine: L-98 with LO-3 induction. 350 CFI
Transmission: 5 speed and vette has 700r4
Axle/Gears: 373's in T/A .. vette unknown
code 44
this is on a 90 ecm, I know its a lean o2 sensor reading, but what would I be looking for to cure the problem, car hesitates really bad on acceleration from a stop, tachometer jumps around
whats your opinions

If you perform a search for "code lean" you can find quite a bit of information. Unfortunately, you cannot search for "44" since it doesn't meet the 3-character minimum for a search term.
Basically, the 44 will be set when the O² signal is below a threshold value after the hot closed loop timer elapses. This can be caused by weak/failing sensor, poor electrical connector or sensor ground, air leakage into the exhaust manifolds or air injection system, or a lean fuel mixture condition.
If the sensor is more than 30,000 miles old, it would be a goiod idea to replace it as a preventive maintnenance measure anyway. Once you have a sensor that you can rely on, you can check the other possibilities.
The fact that the engine runs poorly can be from the ECM reverting to base fuel and spark tables. The "jumping tach" could be from misfire, or some other related or unrelated problem.

thanks found all kind of 44 references searching that way, I must also add even in its poor running state after all my mods, it beats the stock configuration of the LG-4 it once was, added edelbrock headers, speed density TPI, flow master catback, muffler eliminator
