I am extremely new to TPI and my IROC.
Tonight, after fixing a broken tranny mount, I stepped on it full throttle for the first time ever.
It picked up speed really quickly and when it shifted, it actually spun the tires and did a chirp. Is that common on a 305 TPI/700R4 setup?
Other V8/auto cars that I've driven never seem to do that...
BTW: Road was semi smooth and tires have 1000 miles on them.

That's pretty normal for a decent running engine with a good shifting tranny, unless you have 2.73 gears. When I had a 305 it would chirp the 1-2 all the time.
Just remember that 700r4s have very steep first gears, so first always seems to go by quickly, then second might feel extra long because of the large rpm drop on the 1-2 shift.
