TPI problems...Codes 32, 33, 42, 43

Hello. On my TPI 305 motor(87' LG4 block with roller cam conversion and TPI setup from a 87' Trans Am) I am getting these codes. I have the manual and looked them all up, but just wondering if anyone could give a tip seeing all of them together to give me some ideas of whats wrong.

The car runs pretty well, not real rough or anything but the power isnt where it should be same with the mileage, from listening to other TPI guys from f-body to other Monte guys with conversions. One who is a member on here gets better mileage with his 3.73's and 305TPI even.

Car has a rebuilt 2004r and 3.08 gears. Hooker headers/catback exhaust and a K&N open air cleaner. Timing is set at about 8 degrees advanced. Spark plug gap at .35. No pinging or knocking. New Bosch 19# Ford application injectors. http://www.montess.com/nmcoa2003/nmcoa2003536.jpg

From a standstill sometimes could peel them but should be able to rip the single tire(peg leg)...I attribute some of that to a possible vac leak since the off the line power seemed to have gone away once I re-sealed the intake for an oil leak it had. I drove it to Elyria, Ohio which is about 420 miles each way just this weekend. Got about 21 mpg which I was dissapointed with as well. The SES light doesnt come on too many times but sometimes on cold start up while still in park after 4-5 seconds, before closed loop. Also when hard accelerating onto an expressway a couple times.

Ive driven the car about 2,000 miles almost since the conversion from carbed and am overall pleased with the performance but know theres more seeming to be *tapped* out of it.

Any ideas, tips, tricks or general info? TIA!

Well the code 32 is a EGR circuit failure, which could also contribute to your Vac leak if the EGR solenoid is not functional and or has a bad Vac line, this also could be your code that comes up under hard acceleration on the higways. The EGR solenoid should be right by the distributor by the coil on the passenger side.

Code 33 is a low siganl in the MAF , which may be a MAF relay probelm, or the MAF itself. The MAF relay and the ESC module are all together over on the driverside, along with the MAF burnoff relay, and the Fuel pump relay.

Code 42 and 43 can be related to each other as 42 is a EST circuit grounded or HEI module failure, code 43 is a ESC module control failure. It sounds like you may have a ground problem in that circuit, or the EST plug is not connected causing the spark retard to be to long. The EST connection is over on the passenger side close to where the main harness goes into the car to connect with the ECM, it is a single wire that should be disconnected when setting your timing.

I would check all your EGR valve vac lines, and to see that the EGR soleniod is connected and intact.

As for the 42 & 43 codes check to make sure the EST is properly connected, and also the connections on the ESC module and the distributor itself. If all this looks good, you may need to replace a few parts to get her up to snuff.

Hope some or any of this helps you???

BTW I too have a TPI under teh hood of my 85 Monte SS, adn am also a member on montecarloss.com.
