Dyno #'s for new combo (Vortec)

Nothing great to report but at least it did come out about what I expected:
306 rwhp & 391 tq. Didn't have time to do any changes to maximize it but I guess I'll do that at the track anyways (where it counts). I believe that's enough to get me a "12" but I will need to get to the ground on a good day

Those are great #'s for a LTR setup. You'll be running mid 12's when you get your traction issues resolved. Do you have your dyno graph printout available to post?

have you done any porting to the heads, intake, plenum, or runners? I have a setup similar to your's and have been curious what it'll make once it get the collection of parts assembled. I'm likeing the thought of that torque though. In my case it'll be a big improvement over the 2.8L POS I have in there now.

Good numbers. But I bet not as good as what your 1st Gen makes.

You're right about that...that monster was about 700+ ponys. However we didn't have the equiptment to test them back in those days like we have now.
camarojoe: sorry no dyno graph
ericoo1: yes I ported the heads, ported the plenum, matched the base, runners and the plenum. I'm using a 52mm TB, 24# inj. & custom prom.

I just notices that Mike Crews ran a real similar setup to yours with a 383 with the 211 cam before he went bigger. His hp was a little less and he had about 30ft of tq more. That's about the difference between similarily equipped 355s and 383s. If both engines run a tq cam like zz4 or LPE 211 the 383 will usually have more tq but equal or less hp. Things get different when you step up to bigger cams and such as the 383 starts to really shine. What are your future plans for the engine or are you just planning on enjoying it for the time being?

camarojoe:
I built the engine in Kevin 91z's car. (my son) he wanted the 12's real bad, so I used all the parts I had laying around, L98 alum. heads ZZ4 cam etc. ported them and put in the LT4 HOT cam. For myself, I wanted something a little more docile so I used the ZZ4 cam to be a little more street friendly. I'll be happy if I get one run in the 12's. not looking for any other gains at this time, but you never know LOL .

are those numbers 'raw' or corrected? If corrected, what standard are they corrected to?

Cool a father and son that like computers as much as cars! My dad doesn't even know how to sign on the internet let alone post a message on a board. He's learning though. Kevin really has one bada$$ car for being composed of parts that were just laying around. Keep up the good work guys!.

Dyno Don,
I am pretty curious, at what RPM levels did the HP & TQ peak with this combo?

Any improvement to use the SDPC intake and an old TPI runner setup on a 97 Vortec Pickup 350? Those internal fuel regulators and injectores are a pain. Figure the longer runner could boost towin torque too. Not sure on the computer compatibility.
