mustang gt to 350 z questions
well, i use to post on these boards awhile ago. i had a 88 camaro SC. but the camaro was totalled in an accident and i ended up buying a 1994 mustang gt, 5.0 302, auto with stage 3 transgo shift kit, and UD pullies. i am thinking about selling it mainly because i cant handle fords anymore they are just to unrealiable, and thats being honest i usually look at it more than i drive it. i baby this car so much and it gives me **** i beat the hell out of my third gen and it kept on ticking even with 135,000 miles on it.
anyways i just have a few questions about the 350 irocs and z28's. generally what do cars with the 350 usually run in the quarter mile? and do you think a 350 iroc or z28 will be faster or slower than my gt. i love the look of the irocs but i dont want to go to a slower car. and generally not including the cost of the car how much will it cost to get into the 12's?
what kind of gas milage can i expect? right now i can usually get 17-18 miles to the gallon i want to stay at least around there if not better.
i was thinking of maybe getting a lt1 4th gen. what kind of power difference is there between the 4th gens and the third gens.
thanks for all your help, i hope to behind the wheel of a camaro again very soon.

I am sure a good running 350 will get around 18 mpg. Even with me ragging on my car I still get about 16.5 around town. I hope everyone will agree with me that any 350 will smoke a 94 GT, especially an automatic. I am sure that someone will post some numbers on HP and torque for a GT vs. L98 and you will understand why.
I have wanted a 4th gen LT1 for a while. Mostly because I am sick of this automatic. You can't find a 350 tpi with a manual so if that is a big deal you might want a 4th gen. But a third gen will be cheaper of course, and not much slower...

Hey, you can find a manual L98. They are just really hard to find since they are made that way. Like me, L98 with a T5. Dude, Ive smoked soooooo many 94-95 stangs. Its not even a problem. Gas mileage is about 19 miles a gallon. Stock L98 put on 14.7- 14.1........depending on what magizine you read at the time.
Stock HP #'s are 225-245 pending on year....or what car it was in....camaro or vette. Torque was 345. Usually it takes a cam...ported intake...exhaust..chip, heads to get into the 12's. Some money, not a whole lott.
Dude, go with a IROC. They look bad ***, and are awesome cars.

The fastest Irocs were made in 1990 when they switched to SD. The 350/autos run mid 14s. 89 & eariler were good for very high 14s-low 15s.
There were no 5-speed 350s made from the factory. If you find one then has been converted.

It wont be too hard to run faster than a '94 GT with an auto . That is one horrible combination for a mustang.
Like mentioned above, the fastest factory numbers were put down by the speed density cars. My '92 350/auto with 145,000 miles ran 14.3s @ 95 all day, with just filters and a muffler.
You could not buy a 350 with a manual. I heard that a few test vehicles or something got out though into some lucky hands however.
