Ecm Question

I have a 85 305 TPI going into a 79 Elky I was thinking of using the factory ECM and wiring harness but i was told by painless that thier harness would be easier and i should used a 86 ECM can anyone tel me what the differance is between the 85 and 86 ECM and can the 86 be used on the 85 factory harness

The 85 ecm was a one year only, so can be difficult to find spares for at times. It was also, the first in many ways, and was quickly refined. The 86 ecm was used from 86-89 and the 89 code is the best of all of them, IMO.

best in what way and will it plug right into the 85 harness or would other things need to be changed I know the the distributor is differant
