I just bought my 86 T.A about two weeks ago. It's got 94,000 miles on it. Not to shabby for a 17 year old car. I got it for about $2,500 after talking the guy down $500. It needed new tires, the left front headlight won't pop up (but found out it was due to the relay in it and not actually the motor), And the idle jumps from like 500 too like 1,200 when in park or nuetral.

I was thinking it was the idle air control valve.(It is valve right and not sensor?) I was wondering if anyone else had this prob in any of their T/a's??? Also would appreciate any help. Thanx

It seems as if the IAC (yes a valve, not a sensor) isn't controlling properly, but try unplugging the electrical connector on it first...if the engine idles smoothly, then you know it's the valve or something related to the valve's operating characteristics. If the idle still fluctuates, we'll have to look elsewhere.

 

Thanx didn't know I could keep the car running with it disconnected. I am hoping it is only that because I just checked the price of one and it is like 50 something bucks. After buying the car it kind of limits my money to almost nothing......


Also anyone know where I can find black catacomb gta rims??? Found a set for $1,200 and think that is just outragous.
