Maf Help!!! 86' Tpi
1986 Trans Am has cold starting issues that act just like an injector or IAC, but IAC was fine and all injectors are in spec about 16 ohms; 9th injector is functioning properly.
All other checks have been made, and there is a hard code 34 for MAF, but would this cause a hard cold start condition?? ECM is new w/ performance prom and code still exists. Is burn off relay to blame or MAF itself?? Have never heard of a start stall from MAF before! Unplugging MAF seems to curve this starting condition.
Thanx!!

My car behaved similarly. With the stock MAF, the car would start and idle ok, but as soon as I drove it, I'd pop a 34. With a Wells SU 145, the car would start, then immediately die. If I unplugged the MAF, the car would start & run, and after it warmed up I could plug the MAF back in and it would work ok.
So... I replaced the power relay. Then the car would start with the Wells, but would pop a 34 as soon as I drove it. It turned out that the ECM was FUBAR. The reason it took me so long to figure out was that I had 2 separate problems, both causing code 34s.
So anyway... relays are cheap. Buy one. Try replacing the power relay first, and if that doesn't solve the problem, I guess you can try using that relay to replace the burnoff relay. I don't think your problem is a burnoff issue though, but it could be due to the power relay.

Try disconnecting battery for a few minutes to reset ECM, then driving around and letting ECM relearn itself...could be skewed from operating incorrectly before.
