i am looking to buy some tpi for my camaro but i dont know if it will work. its off a 87 formula its complete. my car is a 92 rs with a 79 350 and 700r the engine has 58cc heads edel torquer cam . . . i assume the intake wont line up with the heads so the holes will have to be worked over. the reason i am wanting to do this swap is for emission and because i was told 58cc is too much comp for iron heads and carb.

what will i need to do to the tpi?
will tpi work with this setup?
will the ecm plug right into my car?
will it make more power than carb?

thanks

1. you will need the plenum, runners, manifold, a matching year ecm, fuel rail, injectors, a MAF, intake ducting, a new wire harness, and all associated sensors, i'm prolly missing some stuff too
2. TPI should work on any gen 1 small block with standard gen 1 heads (ie. not vortec)
3. you may have to make some sort of a bracket to hold the ecm but its no biggie if you can't
4. it depends what kind of power you were running with the carb. What kind of carb, manifold, and heads? a generalization is that it will make more toque and less hp. You will get better gas milage

By block is an 80 and I had no problem adapting the TPI to it with the proper heads. Like you said the angle of the center bolts on the intake are at a different angle.

As for power, if you use all stock TPI components and do not port them or do anything to improve the air flow, you may see a decrease in power over the carb. I think it all depends on the combo. You said you have a Torquer cam? I don't think that cam will have good results with a stock TPI. From the specs on the Edelbrock page, I don't think it is a good choice. I suggest something that is designed for use with EFI and TPI...

Good luck...
