Fuel Injector Question
Fuel Injector Question
I have a '92 Z28 w/ a L98 350. Bone stock, except for AFPR, 1.6 Roller tip Rockers, and MSD coil. The car has 208,000 miles on it and still runs really strong. I know with this many miles on the car one or 2 or more of the factory injectors are probably clogged or dying.I'm going to get a set of 24lb. SVO injectors and need to know if I need to get a custom PROM burned or not.

Yes you will as they normally run at 36# and ours run at 42#.

You need to find out what pressure the new injectors were rated at for the 24# flow number. Then you will need to plug in the numbers to find out what the new flow will be at the GM TPI pressure (what ever it is set at if adjustable).
Take the square root of (the new pressure (NP) divided by the rated pressure (RP)) then multiply that by the injector flow rating (FR) at the rated pressure... like this
SQ RT (NP/RP) * FR# = new flow rating. Use the new flow rating as the injector constant in your chip. FYI, the chip is calculated for 40 PSI pressure. If you run higher pressure, do the calculations backwards to get the flow rating that you'll need to put into the chip settings at 40 PSI.
