Injectors

Guys i need help with my car. i have a 1992 z-28 5.7 on the passenger side the injectors sound pretty hard when i listen to them, and on the other side they soud softer? i have never changed the injectors, do i need to change them cause of the hard knocking noise? cause the car stalls when i have it on high rev. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

This thread has information about electrically testing injectors.

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ector+test+ohm

There are other threads describing how to test for injector leak down too. Do a quick search on "Injector Leak" in the TPI section and you should find the information to properly test your injectors. Listening to them is not on the list of testing.

High RPM fuel problems are usually the fuel pump though. Injectors tend to be an "all of the time" type of failure.

So what you are saying is that just cause it sound like a hard knocking noise doesn't necessarily mean that the injectors are bad?. If i were to change them anyway what lb. of injectors should i get?. and also fuel pump? any help would be great. my setup is as follows 5.7c.i 700r4 beefed tranny, all engine components stock.

thanks again.

Stock 5.7L injectors are 22# units. Replace them as a full set. You can run other brands of injectors if you're willing to make some chip changes, otherwise stick to stock. Hit up the search on this board for known injector suppliers.

All injectors make noise. Yours may be going bad, but the noise isn't a way to test them even though the noise may be resulting from a bad injector. Check them for sure before you waste money replacing good parts.

I have never changed a fuel pump in a 3rd gen. I just know some of the symptoms and high rev surging is one of them.

I think our cars have a fuel pump relay too, so you might check that before going through all of the work to remove the fuel tank to get to the pump.
