Can This Be True
After having problem's with my IAC, and TPS, both were changed
with new AC-DELCO part's. the car used to idle at 450 to 500
since the part's have been replaced, my car now idle's at 7.25
on one of those computer like scanners. I think that's kinda high.
It does show 700 on the tach. can this be true. the mechanic
sez that is what the bool's and scanner called for. as he showed
me. .25 above 700 or .25 below 700 is accurate. he also said
because my parts were old that might be why it idle low.
So know when i put it in gear it kicks hard. I also posted the help
please topic. it's the same car. 1991 GTA350 TPI

You talking about in park, or in gear? In park 725ish sounds about right, should drop down to 650ish in drive... 450-500 in drive seems too low, my 305 TPIs didn't even idle that low.
<------ 305 idles around 500... not good eh? I guess i need to replace it. What is the average life for the IAC? I figure 16 years is plenty. Do I have to set the IAC if i replace it, or is it preset?
The first years of TPI did idle at 500 then it got changed to 600-650 (in park) And if you got a replacement prom from GM they had raised the idle to 650 on them, they said that at 500 RPM the engine wasn't getting sufficent oil to all the moving parts.
