my car wont start....its cranking fine, just no spark. the weird thing is that the tach doesnt move when cranking most of the time, then it seems like it wants to fire and the tach will jump, then nothing again. i replaced the coil with a new one a freind had laying around and that did nothing. the car is highly modified and the wiring harness has be switched from MAF to SD. the car ran fine until i tried to put the stock memcal back in it after running a custom PROM for a while, now neither work. any ideas?

My friend just had a simular problem like this for awhile...he tried replacing the coil also, didn't work for him either.Found out he needed a new distributor, replaced that, and the car runs fine.

thanks for the advice.....but for now, im not gonna put in a new distributor unless i find one i can borrow, like i did the coil, cuz this dist, dist cap, rot, wires, plugs, and now coil are all new.

does it mean anything that the tach doesnt jump when im cranking, i know the tach moves on all of my other cars when im cranking. does anyone know how to tell if a memcal is bad? im leaning towards something i did with the ECM.

anyone? thanks alot for any help

Look into a new ignition module (AC Delco only)
