Carb to TPI (85 350)
I am currently in the process of rounding up all the necessary items to swap my carb over to TPI in my 85 K5 Blazer. I have found alot of information and am close to beginning the swap but I have a few more issues I need to address first.
I am looking for an inline fuel pump for my truck. I would prefer one that doesn't break the bank. Someone know an OE inline pump that would work? I have found a pump that is rated at 50 psi & 16 GPH but I am not sure if 16 gph is enough. My motor is fairly stock and doesn't see the high side of 4K RPM much.
I also need to know how difficult it is and if there is a tool that I can buy/rent to redrill the 4 middle manifold bolts to match my older heads? Or do I just wing it? Where do I find those angles washers also?
I am swapping to an 87-88 MAF system. I was cleaning the manifold up and i accidentally pulled a single wire that runs to the bottom of the EGR valve out of its fitting and was wondering if I can get this from GM or where? Anyone have a part #?
Can someone recommend a manual that shows all the vacuum ports and emissions hookups for the TPI? I need to find a good manual that shows the details of this swap so I have pictures and accounts to help with. Should i just buy a Chiltons for the 88 Firebird? Thanks

Yes, I already have a TPI setup off an 87-88 Firebird. Painless wiring harness, manifolds, runners, computer, sensors, etc. I am needing to find out about a fuel pump and all the vacuum, emissions, and wiring. I was looking for a maual with diagrams of them all. Thanks

Me too!
I'm starting to wish that there was TPI doctor out there who makes housecalls.
There are some links to wiring diagrams to be found if you do a search, and "The TPI Swappers Guide" is some pretty good reading. But I'm wishing I could have someone SHOW me.

Hoss, go to your local parts store and pickup a Camaro/Firebird haynes or chiltons manual. It will have the diagrams you need. As for your intake bolt issue, it is the angle of the two center bolts on each side. The holes in your cyl. heads are all angled the same. On the 87 and up intake the center two are straight down. You just need to elongate the center four holes with a dremel or drill bit if you're careful to accomodate this. Check with your local hardware store for the beveled washers or you can make your own. They don't seal anything, they just provide a nice flat surface for your intake bolts. My old Edelbrock base was drilled for both angles and I didn't use any washers. Good luck with your swap, I know you'll enjoy the huge torque increase!

That is what I am looking for. Torque, MPG, and most of all the ability to run at any angle. The carb just can't match injection. I have seen pics of a friend that had a TPI K5 Blazer laying on its side, and the motor was still running without complaint.
